Like any great organization, BLAC relies on great people and the right levels and forms of support to demonstrate our greatness.
Your support enables BLAC to hire brilliant Black graduate students who not only excel in their fields (e.g. higher education, archival research, journalism) but also serve as possibility models and mentors to Black undergraduate students. In turn, undergraduate students receive supportive research training and mentorship, professional development, and the option of course credit for their exceptional contributions.
In terms of research, gifts also help BLAC pay for the collection, preservation, digitization, and presentation of otherwise inaccessible artifacts and stories about Black history at Cal. As a result, BLAC can help prospective, current, and former Black campus members to be familiar with, contribute to, and be recognized as part of Black history at Cal.
